How it Works

My weekend sessions book about two months in advance, weekday sessions about a month in advance. I always keep sessions open for newborns and am flexible to their arrival dates. For outdoor shoots I prefer to shoot either early in the morning or later in the afternoon. The light is magnificent this time of day and I find that it adds an unique dimension to my photographs.

After each photo session you will review the unedited proofs from your session. You will get to choose the 15 or 25 images (depending on your session type) to be edited and finalized. After the final images are edited they will be available for you to view via the PictureMommy online gallery. You are able to place print orders through the online gallery and share your gallery with friends and family.

What to Wear

When planning for a photo session a lot of thought goes into what you wear. Here are a few guidelines I hope you find helpful…

  1. Wear what is comfortable!  We want to capture the spirit of your family, if you’re not comfortable the pictures will reflect that.
  2. Be liberal with the accessories! Add some bangles, hat, scarf, and funky earrings…anything that is fun and unexpected.
  3. Wear your eye color. Brow eyes, try a light brown sweater. Blue eyes, a shirt with a light shade of blue. Green eyes, try a spring green.
  4. Check out the color wheel! Complimentary colors look great in pictures. I cannot stress enough how color makes pictures more interesting and exciting!

Where to Go

Atlanta is blessed with beautiful and lush parks for a good part of the year. I like locations that hold special meaning to the family I am photographing.  Think about where you like to play and run, a place that your family goes to relax and enjoy the weather.  Of course, if you need some suggestions I have plenty!

Maternity and Peanut shoots usually take place at your home, or another indoor location that you feel comfortable in.

What to Bring

Props are another great way to visually convey the spirit of your family. Bring whatever your kiddos love: Footballs, ballerina skirts, bubbles, special blankets or stuffed animals. If you are a family of readers bring a few books, let’s incorporate whatever represents you. I also love to include pets, so bring your furry friends along!

Don't forget the snacks! Happy bellies make happy kiddos, and happy kiddos take great pictures. Bring plenty snacks, drinks and a special treat we can use to eek out as many smiles as possible.

Helpful Hints for Kiddos

  • If I am photographing your kiddo between the ages of 12 and 36 months arrive at the session location 15 minutes beforehand. Get comfortable and start playing. Be sure to plan plenty of time to get out of the house and to the session location.
  • Have plenty of snacks and drinks on hand.
  • If you kiddo is upset, crying or genuinely unhappy walk with them away from the session and take a moment to let them calm down. Most kiddos just need a few minutes to re-compose.
  • All kiddos have bad days, if we need to stop and try again another day I offer additional shoot time for $40/hr.
  • If your kiddo is uneasy around strangers that probably won't change when I am taking pictures. Have realistic expectations and be relaxed. They will pick up on any stress you have about the session.

Timeline

Proofs from your session will be available to view no later than the Wednesday following your session. Your gallery will be open for 14 days for you to view your proofs and select the images you would like edited. If 14 days elapse and you have not selected your images I will select my favorites to edit. Once you share your selections with me I will have your final proofs ready within four weeks.

Prints and cards take 7 to 10 days to be delivered once they are ordered. If I am creating custom cards for you allow one week for me to create your original mock up then a few more days for final tweaks.

If there is a specific deadline you are trying to meet please let me know during your session so we can get everything ready in time! If you are wanting to use images from your shoot for a birth announcement give me your top five image choices when you send me your proofs and I will have those ready quickly so you can use them to order your announcements.

Let’s Chat!

If you have any other questions about your session please give me a call, I would love to chat! If you have a specific look you are going for or an effect you want to achieve I would love to hear about it. If you want to go all black and white or for a retro 70’s look let’s do it! My photo shoots are all about you and your family.
