Emily Turns 1

In June little Emily turned 1. She had a great back-yard birthday party, complete with family, friends, a water table and beer! The handmade details of this party were adorable, I can tell Laura had a great time planning the day.

I am super happy Laura hired me to capture this day. Most Mamas are good at taking pictures, but not as good at being in the pictures. I love that Emily and her parents have images of them together on her first birthday.

(She was upset when Mama took the cake away)

Weekend Wrap Up!

Awesome. Weekend.

Weekends like this make being a photographer feel not like a job, and more like playing around with a camera in my hand.

Off to work I go!

(Alternately titled, "What I did on my Summer Vacation")

Today is my first official Family Photo Session since July 6th. Almost two months. TWO MONTHS. And, it's with this CUTE little guy. If the rain would hold off until about 6:30pm that would be awesome. It's his first birthday this weekend, we have things to celebrate.

As I have mentioned before, I had surgery and had to take some time off. No hoisting kiddos, no chasing down toddlers. I did some freelance work, reconnected with friends, baked a lot, swam laps, read some books. Oh, and I watched a lot of TV. A lot of really bad TV. I should probably be ashamed of the TV I watched…but I'm not. Basically, everything on BRAVO. Especially, the Millionaire Matchmaker. She's funny, and a little cooky, and REALLY entertaining.

I tried to watch Dance Moms. Whoa! Didn't get past the first 10 minutes. Hello cray cray! If anyone talked to me or my girls that way punches would be thrown and I would be in jail. I don't watch that one anymore. It's wasn't good for me.

I baked. That was fabulous. Don't wanna brag, but I make some MEAN triple chip M&M cookies.

From the business-end taking the time off was good. I needed a mental break before the intensity Fall brings. I had to turn down some work, which is always hard and feels VERY counterintuitive. But, it was nice to step back and sit down. I had time to update my website banners (check 'em out…they are new), develop and implement a new pricing structure and connect with some super-cool local business moms (and their super-cool business).

I write this from a really good place. I am psyched about the Fall. I cannot wait to get families in front of my lens again. My year is starting anew and it feels like the best place in the world to be.

My last summer hoorah included American Flag Tiki Torches and a fire pit. In all honestly, I should not be trusted with a fire pit when wine and sharp hangers are involved. Eh, live and learn, right?

Ghanta Family

Just a reminder…you have until November 15th to order your Holiday cards with a 15% discount. Check my card collection out here, there is also a form at the bottom to place your order. On a more personal note, I am starting a little Sears Family Home redecoration. Nothing big, adding some new art, painting the front door, having my mom make me some new valances. Today I visited Jen Singh Studios and got my hands on some AMAZING pieces of art. I cannot wait to show you pictures of them up, they are just fantastic. *Swoon*

Earlier this month I had the pleasure of working with the Ghanta family. They boys are SO adorable with creamy skin and dark, soulful eyes. The days was absolutely fantastic, which has been the norm around the ATL this fall. We had an outfit change (I am a big fan of the outfit change, always consider having one!) and ran around their beautiful yard. Sireesha, thank you so much for asking me to photograph your family, I really enjoyed myself! XOXO

Baby Mackenzie!

Andrea, David and I had such an great time for their maternity portraits. I knew they were going to be awesome parents. I was so excited when Mackenzie arrived and I had the honor of taking her first professional portraits. Mackenzie was a darling little lady while Andrea and David were the most calm, cool and collected new parents I have ever met. David even made a bassinet for her, it is so beautiful! Andrea, David and Mackenzie, you are a very cool little family. I can't wait to see you again! xoxo

Pregnant at Piedmont!

I have been shooting a lot more at Piedmont Park lately and I REALLY like it!  In the evening the light is fantastic and there are many different spaces to shoot in. I meet Karen and her family for a family maternity shoot. It was awesome! They were here from the Cayman Islands preparing for the arrival of their baby (who was born a week after our shoot). They were easy-going and fun, enjoying the evening outside with their daughter. I am sad to see them go back home, but know they are looking forward to the warmer weather! Safe travels! XOXO

Baby Avery!

Oh goodness. So much baby girl sweetness! I spent an afternoon with Avery, her sweet mom and her doting grandmother. The light in their house was perfect for our afternoon shoot and Avery was a perfect little subject. She gave us enough time to get some images with her eyes open then she took a great little nap. Babies just make me so happy!

Busy busy Asher!

Kids crack me up, they are always SO busy. Asher was no exception. He was running and jumping and snacking, of course! I met him and his parents at Emory's Clairmont Campus where we saw train tracks and took a walk down the trail. They were a super fun little family! It was awesome to meet you guys, I can't wait to see you again!! XOXO

Thomas Family!

In September I met up with the Thomas kiddos (and their Mama) in downtown Newnan. I had never been to  the Newnan square before, it is so cute! We found some very cool old buildings and train tracks (I love me some train tracks) to play on. The kids were awesome, and totally knew how to strike a pose. What a fun evening!

The ((Growing)) Kolesky Family!

Well, since my blogging is a bit behind…the Kolesky family has already grown! And, man, is he CUTE! He looks just like his brothers and snuggled with me for about 30 minutes on Tuesday. I almost took him home with me, then remembered that I had nothing to feed a baby with so I gave him back to his mom…reluctantly. I am so happy for Scott and Rebecca, the baby is perfect and adorable! We met for a quick mini-session before Baby arrived. It was a fun time! We captured a few fun moments, some of their last as a family of four. Love you guys so much!
